Hercules Tower Trailhead on State Highway 125
Hercules-Glades is one of Missouri’s most visually distinctive riding landscapes. Open glades, steep rocky hillsides, forested ridges and long creek-country movement combine to make the wilderness feel dramatic in a way few Midwestern destinations do. With around 32 miles of maintained trails in a 12,413-acre setting, it offers both beauty and enough range to feel like a real escape. It is one of the state’s most cinematic rides.

Trailer parking
Choose your trailhead carefully—Hercules Tower, Blair Ridge and Coy Bald each stage differently, with smaller lots that reward thoughtful trailer planning rather than last-minute decisions.
Horse regulations
Wilderness rules apply: no motorized or mechanized equipment, party-size limits, camping setbacks from trails and water, and absolutely no tying stock directly to trees. Pack out everything.
Getting here
The wilderness rewards preparation. Pick your trailhead in advance, understand the parking limitations and bring a self-sufficient mindset; the destination is far more about landscape than convenience.
Planning your visit
Hercules-Glades is best for riders who want scenery first and amenities second. When you are in the mood for a true wilderness-style horse trip, it is exceptional.
Where to stay
Dispersed camping is allowed in the wilderness, which makes multi-day horse itineraries possible for riders comfortable with primitive travel. That added freedom is a huge part of the destination’s appeal.
