Seminoe State Park
WY · Sinclair / Seminoe Reservoir
County Road 351, Sinclair, WY 82334
Seminoe is for riders who hear the phrase no equine facilities and still think, good. The setting is broad, windy, and beautifully spare, with the kind of open reservoir-and-desert country that can feel almost cinematic when the light is right. It is not polished in the infrastructure sense, but it is richly rewarding for horse travelers who value room, solitude, and the satisfaction of doing the logistics well.
Riding guide
Highlights
A remote reservoir landscape for riders who value space, solitude, and true self-sufficiency.
Riding
Under saddle, the reward is the feeling of scale. The landscape opens wide, the reservoir gives the horizon a cool blue line, and the surrounding country feels genuinely western in a stripped-down, elemental way. Riders who enjoy quiet miles, big weather, and a more exploratory mood will likely find Seminoe far more memorable than riders looking for developed amenities.
Trailer parking
Seminoe does not provide equine facilities, so riders need to arrive fully self-contained and stage with the mindset of a dispersed, self-managed outing rather than a serviced horse camp.
Horse regulations
Appropriate daily-use and overnight camping fees apply, horse use is on BOR land around the park, and riders should confirm any current access details directly before arrival. Because there are no equine facilities, responsible stock management is entirely on the rider.
Getting here
This is not a place to arrive casually. Wyoming State Parks is explicit that horses may be ridden on Bureau of Reclamation land around the park, but Seminoe itself does not offer equine facilities. That means staging, water planning, horse management, and route decisions all need to be thought through before you leave home rather than solved in the parking lot.
Planning your visit
Bring more water, more patience, and more weather awareness than you think you need. Wind, distance, and sparse services are part of the Seminoe equation. For the right rider that is exactly the draw, but it only feels luxurious when preparation is excellent and expectations are realistic.
Where to stay
General overnight camping is available in the park, but horse travelers should not expect built stock corrals or a turnkey equestrian campground. This is a better fit for experienced road trippers who can create their own comfort level, then pair the ride with a well-planned overnight rather than expecting the park to supply every convenience.
